2020 Last Mile Project – NITA-U

The National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) launched the Last Mile Project to significantly improve internet penetration across Uganda. Seagate Electric Co Ltd played a pivotal role in this transformative initiative, providing essential services for implementing the last-mile connectivity through outside plant engineering.

Our team undertook extensive civil works, fiber optic cable installation, and comprehensive network testing to ensure the delivery of high-speed broadband connectivity in both rural and urban areas. This project was crucial in enhancing the country’s ICT infrastructure, making internet access more accessible and reliable for all Ugandans.

One of the significant challenges was bringing connectivity to remote locations where infrastructure was sparse. Through innovative engineering solutions and effective collaboration with local communities, we overcame these obstacles and successfully delivered a robust network. Our efforts have supported businesses, education, and government operations, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

As the sub-contractor, Seagate Electric Co Ltd was responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and site assessments to the physical installation and rigorous testing of the fiber optic network. Our commitment to excellence and use of cutting-edge technology ensured that the network met the highest standards of performance and reliability.
